WHAT IS AN EQUIPRO™ SEAL?

The Equipro™ Seal is a spring energized, pressure assisted sealing device consisting of a PTFE, UHMW-PE or other plastic alloy outer shell, partially enclosing a corrosion resitant metal spring energizer. When the Equipro™ Seal is seated in the gland, the spring forces the jacket lips against the groove walls thereby creating a reliable seal. The spring provides permanent energy to the seal jacket and compensates for jacket wear and hardware misalignment. Once system pressure reaches its normal level, it also assists in energizing the seal jacket. Spring loading, assisted by system pressure, provides effectice sealing at both low and high pressures. Equipro™ Seal jackets are precision machined from PTFE, filled PTFE composites and other high performance plastic alloys. Equipro™ Seals of PTFE are serviceable at temperatures ranging from sub-zero to 650°F. They are resistant to virtually all chemicals except molten alkali metals, fluorine gas at high temperatures, and chlorine trifluoride (CIF3). Equipro Seals™ are available with a variety of spring energizers, each having characteristics to meet specific requirements. Spring loading can be tailored to meet critical low friction requirements in sliding or rotary applications, or extremely high loading often required for low temperature sealing. Springs are fabricated from corrosion resistant metals suc as 301, 304, 316, and 17-7 PH stainless steel, Hastelloy, Inconel and Cobalt Nickel alloys. Equipro™ Seals with elastomer O-Rings used as energizers (Nitrile, Silicone, Viton®, etc.) are also available. The geometric of the Equipro Seal™ installed in the groove provides positive resistance to torsional or spiral failures. Equipro Seals™ with metal springs can be stored indefinitely and are not subject to age controls normally imposed on elastomeric seals.

EPM can replace energized PTFE seals made by any other seal manufacturer: Bal-Sele, Saint-Gobain (Furon), Variseal, Seal-Jet, Fluorocarbon, Parker, and Elring. Size doesn't matter to EPM - we can provide Metric sizes or inch sizes.

BENEFITS OF USING EQUIPRO SEALS
  • Best Surface Speed Capabilties
    • The Equipro™ seal provides excellent service at surface speeds in excess of 6,000 feet per minute, at moderate pressures.

  • Chemically Inert
    • Virtually unlimited chemical compatibility (except molten alkali metals, fluorine gas at high temperatures and chlorine trifluoride CIF3)

  • Provides Low Friction Sealing
    • Smooth and consistent breakout and running friction
    • Low power absorption and torque requirements
    • Can run dry or lubricated

  • Wide Temperature & Pressure Range
    • -400°F to 650°F (-252°C to 315°C), from cryogenic service to hot air or super-heated steam

  • Wide Pressure Ranges
    • Vacuum to 60,000 PSI with proper arrangements

  • Low Shaft Wear
    • The low friction of PTFE allows for the use of much greater lip contact areas, distributing the load and avoiding shaft grooving often experienced with rubber lip seals.

  • Extended Endurance

  • Media
    • Can Seal Powders
    • Can Seal Abrasive Materials
    • Can Seal Gaseous Environments
    • Can Seal Corrosives
    • EPM's Rulon 641 compound meets FDA/USDA requirements while providing long wear life.

  • Handles Shaft Run-Out & Misalignment

  • Very Versatile Sizes Available
    • EPM's Equipro™ designs offer ease of retrofit and non-standard sizes without costly tooling. Face seal and "split seal" configurations are also available by consulting the factory.
